Advis is a law firm in Hawaii. Its clients are in Japan. So every document, every meeting and every page of the website has to work in two languages. A Japanese client can tell straight away when a site was written in English first and translated afterwards.

Nothing translated after the fact
A law firm sells one feeling: nothing will be missed. A second language added at the end breaks that feeling. Line lengths go wrong. The tone flattens. You can see where the care stopped.
So nothing was translated after the fact. The identity, the site and the words were built in English and Japanese at the same time, by people writing in each. A decision had to work in both languages, or it was not a decision yet.

One team, not five vendors
The brand, the website, the photography, the video and the words were made by one team, at the same time. That is why they fit together. A photographer working alone hands back pictures that need a caption. A writer working alone writes for a layout nobody has drawn.

Gev and his team gave Advis a brand and website that finally feel like us: clear, polished, and true to who we are. They made the whole process easy, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
Allisha Furuya, Founder, AdvisLive in both languages
Advis is live at advishawaii.com, in English and Japanese. The photography and the brand carry the same tone in both. A client in Tokyo and a client in Honolulu meet the same firm.
